What is Simhanada Guggul?
Simhanada Guggul, also known as Vatari Guggul is an ayurvedic proprietary medication that is mainly used for the treatment and management of different types of joint pains, swelling, stiffness and inflammation associated with gout and rheumatoid arthritis. Powered with antirheumatic, detoxifying, antitoxin, antimicrobial, antipruritic, depurative, laxative, anti-gout, and demulcent qualities, simhanada guggul is also helpful in treating skin diseases, abdominal disorders, hair woes, cough, asthma, loss of appetite, colicky pain, and other Vata disorders (mainly paralysis).
How To Prepare Simhanada Guggul?
Ingredients:
144 grams Haritaki – Terminalia Chebula
144 grams Bibhitaki – Terminalia Bellirica
144 grams Amla (Indian Gooseberry) – Emblica Officinalis
48 grams Saugandhika(Gandaka) – Purified sulphur
144 grams Kaushika(Shudda guggulu) – Commiphora mukul
192 grams Eranda Tail (Castor Oil) – Oil of Ricinus communis
Method:
First prepare the kashayam or decoction by adding the triphala ingredients in coarse powder form.
Boil the water to reduce the decoction to ¼ of the volume.
Then, filter the liquid and add the castor oil while heating the filtrate.
Next add purified sulphur and guggulu into the filtrate.
Keep stirring until the formulation concentrates and becomes solid.
Use your palm to roll the solid substance into tablets or gutikas.
Keep it under direct sunlight to remove excess moisture.
Store the tablets in amber-coloured glass jars for future use.

Dosage:
The appropriate therapeutic dosage of Simhanada guggul usually varies from person to person depending upon the age, body strength, effects on appetite, severity, and condition of the patient. It is strongly recommended to consult an ayurvedic doctor or practitioner as he or she would evaluate the patient’s indications, past medical conditions and prescribe an effective dose for a specific time period.
Adults: 500 to 2000 mg, along with warm water, twice or thrice a day after meals or as suggested by the ayurvedic doctor or health care provider.
